Family RESET Programme

Children do not change in isolation. Lasting progress happens when the adults around them feel confident, supported, and equipped with practical strategies they can use every day.

The Family RESET Programme is a structured parent programme designed to help you better understand your child's needs, strengthen your parenting approach, and create positive, sustainable change at home. Available as an 8-week programme for younger children and a 12-week programme for teenagers, it is suitable for parents whether or not their child is receiving therapy.

Combining expert guidance with personalised coaching and practical, evidence-based strategies, the programme helps you bridge the gap between understanding your child's behaviour and responding with confidence in everyday situations. By building consistency at home, the skills learned become part of daily family life, supporting meaningful, long-term change.

While children may spend only an hour each week in therapy, they spend the vast majority of their time with their families. The greatest opportunity for lasting change lies in the relationships, routines, and responses they experience every day.

What You'll Learn

The Family RESET programme combines evidence-based behavioural strategies with practical, real-world parenting techniques. Each module is designed to help you better understand your child's behaviour, reduce conflict, respond with confidence, and create lasting positive change at home.

Topics include:

  • Understanding Challenging Behaviour
Learn why challenging behaviours develop, what maintains them, and how to respond in ways that encourage positive change.

  • The Coercive Cycle
Understand how everyday interactions can unintentionally reinforce challenging behaviour and learn how to break unhelpful patterns.

  • Effective Instructions
Discover how to give clear, calm, and effective instructions that increase cooperation and reduce conflict.

  • Positive Reinforcement
Learn how to encourage positive behaviour by recognising and reinforcing the behaviours you want to see more often.

  • Token Systems
Create simple, motivating reward systems that help children develop new skills, increase cooperation, and build positive habits.

  • Managing Emotional Outbursts
Develop practical strategies for responding calmly and effectively to meltdowns, anger, and emotional dysregulation.

  • Reducing Conflict and Power Struggles
Learn how to de-escalate difficult situations, reduce arguments, and create a calmer, more cooperative home environment.

  • Creating Calmer Routines
Build predictable daily routines that reduce stress, increase independence, and help your child feel more secure and regulated.

A Commitment to Change

The Family Reset Programme is not simply a course to watch—it is a guided programme designed to create meaningful, lasting change through practical implementation and personalised support.

Each week, parents complete one module and put the accompanying strategies into practice at home. Coaching sessions provide the opportunity to review progress, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure that learning is translated into action.

Research consistently demonstrates that parental involvement is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes for children. Lasting change happens through consistent practice, support, and accountability.

For families accessing child therapy, participation in either the Family Reset Programme or Intensive 1:1 Parent Coaching is a required component of treatment.
