Behaviour Support
Following your Family Assessment & Clinical Treatment Plan, your child will begin a personalised programme of 1:1 therapy tailored to their individual strengths, needs, and treatment goals. Parent support sessions may also be included within the clinical plan, where appropriate, to help you understand and respond to your child’s needs, develop practical strategies for use at home, and support consistency and progress beyond the therapy sessions.

Who We Work With
Many of the children and teenagers we work with describe feeling as though they are constantly on an emotional roller coaster. Small setbacks can trigger overwhelming frustration, disappointment, anxiety, or anger. Emotions often feel bigger, more intense, and harder to manage than they do for their peers, leading to difficulties at home, school, and in friendships.
Our therapeutic approach is designed specifically for children and adolescents who struggle to regulate their emotions, control their impulses, and respond effectively when faced with challenges. Sessions are highly engaging, interactive, creative, and adapted to each child's individual strengths, interests, and developmental needs.
Rather than simply focusing on behaviour, we help children understand what is happening beneath the surface, develop practical coping skills, and build the emotional resilience needed to navigate life's challenges more successfully.
Sometimes the most effective way to support a child is to support their parents alongside them. Where appropriate, your child's individual therapy can be combined with one of our parenting programmes, helping the whole family understand what's happening and work towards positive change together. This means the skills and progress developed in therapy can be supported at home too — creating meaningful, lasting change both inside and beyond the therapy room.

What Children & Young People Learn
We help children & young people to:
Develop Emotional Awareness & Regulation
-
Many children who experience emotional dysregulation struggle to recognise what they are feeling until emotions have already escalated.
-
Through therapy, children learn to identify and understand their emotions as they arise, recognise their personal triggers, and develop greater awareness of the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
-
As emotional awareness improves, children become better able to respond thoughtfully to difficult situations rather than reacting impulsively in ways that create further problems.
Build Practical Coping Skills
-
When emotions become overwhelming, many children rely on ineffective coping strategies such as shouting, aggression, avoidance, withdrawal, or impulsive behaviour.
-
Our therapists help children develop a toolkit of practical, evidence-based coping strategies that can be used both at home and in school. These skills enable children to tolerate distress more effectively, reduce impulsivity, and manage challenging emotions with greater confidence.
Improve Relationships & Social Skills
-
Strong relationships are fundamental to emotional wellbeing.
-
Children and young people learn how to communicate their needs more effectively, express emotions appropriately, ask for support when needed, and develop healthy interpersonal boundaries.
-
We also help children navigate friendship difficulties, manage conflict constructively, and build the social confidence necessary to develop and maintain positive relationships.
Develop an Individualised Emotional Regulation Plan
-
Every child is unique, which is why we create personalised strategies tailored to their specific strengths, challenges, triggers, and goals.
-
Together with their therapist, children learn to identify situations that commonly lead to emotional overwhelm and develop a personalised "cope ahead" plan that equips them with practical tools to manage these situations more successfully in the future.
Apply Skills in Everyday Life
-
Learning new skills is only valuable if children can use them outside the therapy room.
-
Our sessions include engaging activities, experiential exercises, and practical between-session challenges that help children transfer what they have learned into real-world situations.
-
This approach promotes lasting change by helping children practise and strengthen new skills across home, school, friendships, and everyday life.
